Customer Reviews

1) There is a rediculous amount of internal circuitry built into battery for voltage and current monitoring during the charge / discharge cycle and for thermal protection as well as LED indicators to show battery health as I do on my pa3465u-1brs PA3451U-1BRS. On tear down of the older battery that this new one replaced, I counted 14 large scale surface mount IC’s and many small ones on two circuit boards.
2) The batteries are spot welded to the connection straps which makes for a strong anti shock connection.
3) Trying to repair the old 4 cell battery… I found that, taking time and the cost of one cell into account, it was cheaper to purchase the new 6 cell battery pack than to try and repair the old one.
Cons1)individual Dell D610 battery cells are extremely difficult to find (in the US) and expensive. These are industrial type battery cells.
2) Unless you have a hot air SMT desoldering station there are no serviceable parts in the battery pack. My recomendation is don’t bother taking one apart… it is a waste of time (and could be dangerous also).

ReviewI purchased this 6 cell battery for my fathers Latitude D600. It was shipped very quickly to the house and my father has been very haapy with his notebook since the new battery was installed. After an initial charge I turned on the D600 and let the system settle down ( hard drive and cd stop spinning ). After about a 5 minute wait I checked the battery level monitor and it showed a 14 hour charge remaining, this happened to my pa3465u-1brs PA3451U-1BRS. (keep in mind that this number can change ALOT when you access the hard drive or optical drive). I am pretty happy with the results.

Normal performance is restored. Too bad it has to cost so much to get there. In general, I’ve had good luck with Dell batteries so long as you condition them properly (run them all the way down before charging, etc.) and battery life is greatly improved over the last few years as vgp-bps2c vgp-bps2a, but the technology is still lagging behind the rest of the machine.

Dell should really start a policy of providing a means to return the old battery in the shipping box for the replacement to allow recycling. No telling how many of the old units wind up dumped into the environment simply because it’s such a pain to get them to a place that recycles. Dell offeres recycling on old PC’s, why not batteries too?

Dell inspiron 510M review

  • Battery Code : c1295 6y270 3r305

The Dell Inspiron 510m is a little bit different from Inspiron series of the past, the Inspiron 510m battery is market for small business users and designers. Up from the design and characteristics the inspiron 510m may more like Inspiron 5000 series, but it still have some important changes. The use of integrated graphics chip is the most significant changes of Inspiron 510m battery Series as Inspiron 5000.

But since the general view that business users will not use the notebook to play games, so graphics chips change and users will not be a focus obef debate. More importantly, the changes should be three times the bandwidth of its built-in 802.11 WiFi wireless card, you can use it 802.11a/b/g wireless network connection. This means that with this Inspiron 510m latitude d610 battery, you can connect wireless Internet access all over the world. This is a good news for the people who often necessarily carry books around the staff. In addition to WiFi wireless card, this Inspiron 510m is also a standard Bluetooth interface, as long as you have a Bluetooth cell phone support, you can send and receive an email anywhere.

Although this Inspiron 510m with Pentium M 1.7GHz processor, but there is no Intel Centrino paste (Centrino) label, it is because its wireless chip is not Intel, but Broadcom produced. Another regret is that Inspiron 510m is only 256MB of PC2100 DDR SDRAM memory as latitude D600 battery, although you can slowly upgrade their own future, the cost to upgrade is much cheaper than buy from Dell, but the two memory slots are filled. The laptop have a big enough hard drive, a 60GB, standard DVD / CD-RW combo drive which is the mainstream of the current configuration.

1400×1050 resolution is very common in many 15-inch notebook screen , and Inspiron 510m course this is no exception. We mentioned above, the laptop is the use of integrated graphics chips, so it is not ideal when running 3D applications, but running Windows system and DVD playback with 3R505 is not a problem . Intel Extreme integrated graphics chip to allow the largest share 64MB of system memory, but performance of the system maybe solow if you show too much memory.

The most problem of Inspiron 510m is the inspiron 510m battery capacity. Inspiron 510m battery only can last 2 hours 28 minutes. Although this and the Dell battery standard work time, but I think that for business users that is too short. Commercial users for 2 hours 28 minutes is also too short. In order to solve the problem of Dell D610 battery, Dell provides a choice of a second C1295 battery. Dell said this back-up battery to provide them with additional two hours of electricity.

Conclusion:
From its characteristics, performance and battery life, the Inspiron 510m is really a hodgepodge of laptop. Its distinctive characteristics, a moderate level of performance (although within plus 256M Kept on will increase performance), short laptop battery life. However, it is not expensive relative to the prices, or be a rugged business notebook.

Canon EOS 450D Review

Canon EOS 450D is the growth increase over the previous-generation models of real-time viewfinder function, the replacement of the image sensor, increasing the display, which are obvious. However, it’s trouble lies in the fact that limited series of targeted, it must maintain the entry-level machine type of control interface, a small and simple as far as possible the fuselage, and even larger as a result of the screen, the back of the fuselage can be manipulated to a more cramped space.

The EOS 450D features:

  • 12.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor
  • Canon’s EOS Integrated Cleaning System
  • 3.5 frames per second
  • 3.0” LCD with Live View shooting
  • 9-point wide-area AF system with f/2.8 cross-type centre point
  • Picture Style image processing parameters
  • DIGIC III image processor
  • Digital Photo Professional RAW processing software1
  • Compact and Lightweight body
  • Fully compatible with all Canon EF and EF-S lenses and EX-series Speedlites
  • Power with the powerful battery grip Canon BG-E5

Product advantage:

1. shooting a feature-rich,

2. fast response

3. imaging noise control

Product weakness:

1, a sense of strong plastic body. Canon EOS 450D grip in the entry-level digital SLR camera configuration specifications than there are obvious advantages, especially in 3.5 / s burst speed, led, in addition to the focus of nine automatic configuration also quite brisk. But Canon EOS 450D highest sensitivity of ISO 1600 has not pushed the low-end Sony and Nikon models of high

In comparison, the Canon EOS 450D over the previous generation model EOS 500D battery grip slightly larger size, but a number of light weight, it is conceivable that, Canon EOS 450D’s plastic handle is disappointing, but not a small volume of the entire body, hands in the steady hands as worthy of recognition.

The back of the fuselage of large-size LCD screen takes up an area of great, and the manipulation of Canon EOS 450D Canon button broke the tradition of earlier and less than the EOS 400D has two buttons, but as a result of the distribution functions of rational, manipulative and not out a significant step backward.

Canon EOS 450D fuselage provides a depth of field preview button, to support the vertical lines and make the shutter handle the battery box, which uses a special rechargeable lithium batteries, with the EOS 400D or before other GM models do not. Canon EOS 450D equipped with a vertical-grip shutter button, command dial, AE lock/FE lock, and AF point selector button to enable shooting in the same fashion as a horizontal Canon BG-E5 battery grip.

Real-time viewfinder function can be said that the current DSLR battery grip camera features a large hot, Canon EOS 450D in the real-time display mode, you can screen a wide range of zoom in to any local, with the large size of the screen, can be very good monitor the effect of manual focus. Canon EOS 450D and also support real-time display in the state, non-disruptive automatic focusing screen, but the focusing speed is slower.

In the EF 50mm f/1.4 USM lens aperture the most, the Canon EOS 450D RAW files MTF50 to break the 2000LW/PH, high-performance pixel in the edge image detail is more obvious, JPEG sharpening value after the test may be more high. However, the high-pixel camera models on the requirements of higher quality.

From the test results, the Canon EOS 450D Digital SLR Canon has maintained the camera auto white balance accuracy has always been the characteristics of the test under the Auto White Balance color temperature deviation small. In addition, the Canon EOS 450D photo in the standard style color imaging is still under security hold a more elegant style, but red is still a relatively strong number. The EOS 450D can makes 3999 shots with the powerful battery grip as Canon BG-E3, Nikon MB-D40, MB-D80, VG-B30AM

Function Deployment from the point of view, the Canon EOS 450D is a good overall performance models mature in Canon digital SLR camera system is also the birth of the EOS 450D has a higher degree of human control systems, especially in the menus and control interface design. Performance, level of 12 million pixels in the image sensor dynamic range, image details and noise control are quite good performance, imaging color style has always maintained the characteristics of Canon, delicate and pretty elegant. It can be said that if the body good enough durability, Canon EOS 450D is a can accompany the user through the initial phase of the preferred product photography.

Canon BG-E3 DSLR Battery Grip review

Canon BG-E3 DSLR Battery Grip review

After sold out the EF-s 18-55mm, I intend to buy a tripod, but finally meet someone sell BG-E3, the price is reasonable, so I put away the tripod temporarily to seize this rare opportunity.

Most of the person can not understand that why want to buy a battery grip? The price is expensive, and seems not valuable, I also hesitate for a long time before I buy it. After I use it, I found the battery grip is really very useful. Now there are many battery grips in the market as Canon BG-E3 BG-E5 BG-E2N, Nikon MB-D40 MB-D80 MB-D200, Sony VG-B30AM and So on.

Compared with BG-E3 350D, the machine performance improvement can be listed as follows:

  • Add the vertical photo function. It is quite suit for me, as I prefer to take photo vertically, previously, I have to hold up my hand to take photo, it is not only tried but also difficult to hold stable, the success rate is low, and arm is sore, if the camera lens is heavy, it Is easy to be disabled.
  • Increase the machine body hand feel. As the body design is very small, little finger has no place to put, it is often emerge un-stable situation, if with a grip, it will be more stable.
  • Enhance the power. 350d is quite power saving, according to my own using experience, it mainly can take around 400pcs photos, and the battery will show low power when it remains 20% power, but if the photo capacity is quite large and without charger, it is bad, BG-E3 can use 2pcs NB-2LH battery to supply power, the duration ability enhanced a lot, besides, if it is still not enough, then you can use 6pcs AA battery to take photo to solve the power shortage problem.
  • Enhance the brightness degree. It is due to your own psychological effect, after install the battery grip, it is brighter, but also heavy, the machine body and camera lens weight increase to 1200g, it seems like that I have to take more exercises, as the good photo not only need excellent technique but only healthy body. ===================================BG-E3======================================

thinkpad X300

Thinkpad X300 Specs

  • Operating System: Windows XP or Windows Vista (in various flavors)
  • Other Features: Integrated web camera, powerful thinkpad X300 battery

It to a lot of people compare Apple Macbook Air Apple Macbook Air as “the ultimate thin and light” and the ThinkPad X300 is a “no compromise light” here refers to the uncompromising performance, the existence of Apple Macbook Air interface less than , non-standard optical disk drive, memory card there, and many other battery change not regret, and the ThinkPad X300 is more comprehensive.

Light, is the beginning of thin ThinkPad X300 notebook to get the first impression, as is currently the lightest full-featured notebook 13 inches, really deserves. Whole transmission is still the appearance of the “black” appearance of the classic, although the machine has been monotonous black as main color, but it gives the feeling of losing fashion. Its powerful battery is litium battery as VGP-BPS8 VGP-BPS9 VGP-BPS11 VGP-BPS13. The reason why such a thin and light ThinkPad X300 with its use of the material body has a great relationship, X300 using CFRP carbon fiber and glass fiber GFRP as top and bottom of the body material, to ensure a solid body of good control at the same time weight machine.

Thinkpad X300 battery using locking design, unlock the front left is located in the fuselage, one-handed opening and closing of the notebook some difficulties, but the benefits of this design is the security of the notebook have a good guarantee. Of course, there are less than each notebook, I use the X300 for some time, found that the shaft resistance of a small notebook, so I do not know the design of the notebook, or more than the number of opening and closing of cause; In addition, the skin texture of the matte notebook region, if the user the situation in this touching and humid, it is easy to leave a mark, but it is very difficult to remove.

Thinkpad X300 interior design, in the whole extension of the ThinkPad is still the IBM traditional style, in the middle of the screen set up above the 1.3 million-pixel camera, the camera lights next to the keyboard, user-friendly to use in the dark. In the look down in the notebook inside of the two axes are the logo and the Lenovo logo X300.

Relatively rich interface X300 is a big selling point, many people give up Apple Macbook Air and X300 choose one of the major reasons is because this point. Although the X300 compared to the ordinary 13-inch notebook interface or worse, but has been used to meet the day-to-day. The following is a notebook specific distribution of the interface.

In fact, the whole performance of X300 can only say that it is ordinary, Core 2 Duo L7100 processor frequency of only 1.2GHz as thinkpad X200 battery, but the application of the ordinary day-to-day, or enough. In fact, the hardware configuration of the X300’s biggest bright spot is the hard drive is equipped with, X300 uses SSD solid state hard drive, SSD solid state drive uses NAND flash memory, hard drive not have to worry about the collision of data loss, which greatly raised the hard disk data security.

Overall, this notebook is remarkable, 13-inch thin frame, 1.33 kilograms of whole weight, the excellent performance of the hard drive, LED screen, said to be worthy of the ThinkPad family of a milestone for inspiron 6000. But there are also many places with some regret that the general processor performance, interface, or a little weak, especially the price of the current wetlands, or some to be prohibitive. The X300 is currently priced at 24,999 yuan, more suitable for high-end business users, especially for a portable notebook and endurance than the value of this part of users.

Dell XPS M1730 battery review

Dell XPS M1730 battery review

Dell XPS M1730 battery is a standard Dell XPS sereies battery (XPS M1210 battery, XPS M1330 battery, XPS M1530 battery) for notebook. This XPS M1730 battery is a black 9cells 85WHr li-ion Dell battery. On XPS M1730 battery has six indicator lights. When you press the button the lights become green to show its capacitance. There are some battery’s detail info on its back as replace code, capacity, using Attentions . Also the interface connect to laptop and bayonet are set on its side.

Excellent Specs :
# High capacity (85WHr) lets your XPS M1730 work longer.
# Quick-charging : fully charged in 3 hours.

Manufacturer Part# : WG317
Dell Part# : 312-0680
Please Notice this : the battery cant replace XPS M1530 battery

Tech Specs :

Product Type : laptop Battery
Features : For Dell XPS M1730 Notebook
Battery : 9-Cell Lithium-Ion
Power Provided : 85 WHr

Dell XPS M1730 battery problems:
Thats maybe the dell mainboard and adapter probelm : Just last night I started receiving a message saying,
“The AC Power Adapter Type cannot be determined. Your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge. Please connect a Dell 230W AC Adapter or Higher for Best Results”.

Customers Rating :

Doesn’t hold much charge, maybe an hour (when it was NEW). Now that it is a year old, it holds ZERO charge. If I unplug my computer, the battery holds no charge and the computer crashes immediately. Poor quality, poor value.

The battery that came with my M1730 is so weak my computer shuts down 10 sec after I unplug it. I did not use the battery much – always plugged in. The price is absolutely ridiculous for something that only lasts a year and provides 1 hour of power.

In the end the xps m1730 battery is a new battery as sony VGP-BPS8 VGP-BPS9 VGP-BPS13.There maybe some replacement in the market, you can select a cheap replacement for your OEM battery when you long working with battery. As the frequent "long time discharging" can damage your OEM battery.

Thinkpad T61 : update to the T60

Thinkpad T61 : update to the T60

ThinkPad T61 and the ThinkPad R61 are the Lenovo Centrino laptops. They are so similar that you cant differ them only by their physical desigh. The thinkpad T61 is the update of Thinkpad T60: 14-inch models include all the important parts of Intel’s revamped Centrino platform, including new Core 2 Duo CPUs, extra onboard Turbo Memory (for boosting access times), and 802.11n Wi-Fi.

The ThinkPad T61 continues the T-Series tradition of being thin and light enough to carry around with you all day – 336 x 237 x 28mm (WxDxH) and 2.3kg – but still maintaining a decent size screen and keyboard. In fact, whenever I’ve been asked what my favourite ThinkPad model is, I’ve always been torn between the T-Series and X-Series, with the latter being smaller and lighter, but also less feature packed.

Specs

  • Processor: Intel T7300 Core 2 Duo (2.0GHz, 800MHz FSB, 4MB Cache)
  • Graphics: Intel GMA X3100
  • Operating System: Windows Vista Business
  • Display: WXGA+ 1440 x 900 (LG screen)
  • Hard Drive: 100GB 7200RPM (Seagate Momentus 7200.1)
  • Memory: 2GB (1GB x 1GB), up to 4GB max
  • Ports: 3 USB 2.0, 1 FireWire, Monitor out, modem, Ethernet, headphone out, microphone in
  • Slots: 1 PC Card Slot, 1 ExpressCard slot (optional media card reader and Smart Card reader)
  • Optical Drive: Ultra-slim Super-Multi Drive
  • Dimensions: 13.2″ x 9.3″ x 1.09 – 1.26″ (335mm x 237mm x 27.6 – 31.9mm)
  • Weight: 5.1lbs
  • Battery : Thinkpad T61 battery 6 cell.

The new CPUs from Intel, including the T7300 in the ThinkPad T61, all include some power saving and performance boosting features. One feature is called Enhanced Dynamic Acceleration, which will power down one core of the CPU when it’s not needed, and use some of the power saved to boost the still-active core, giving it more speed. On top of that the FSB has been increased from 667MHz to 800MHz, providing more bandwidth and faster communication between the CPU, the memory and the chipset.

New switchable graphics, LCD backlit displays, and DisplayPort technology features give you superior graphics performance on your ThinkPad T Series notebook. Experience brighter, crisper colors and lower power consumption life with the new LED backlit displays on the ThinkPad T Series. These new displays are bright without sacrificing battery life, with 25% brighter displays and using 2W less power than conventional CCFL displays. These high-resolution displays also contribute to the thin and light design of ThinkPad T Series notebooks, weighing 70 grams lighter than conventional displays. Users who travel frequently will appreciate the wide dimming range of the LED backlit display. This allows you to reduce brightness while still experiencing a crisp, comfortable display in dim environments such as an aircraft cabin. Finally, to protect the environment, our LED backlit displays are mercury-free.

One major feature the Centrino Pro ThinkPad T61 has over the Centrino Duo R61 is the inclusion of Intel’s Active Management Technology. You get a faster processor front side bus (800MHz), more processor cache (4MB) and an improved integrated graphics solution in the form of the Intel X3100. If all that talk is nonsense to you, then suffice it to say the T61 offers newer and better processing components than the T60.

Battery Life : Thinkpad T61 battery is 6-Cell battery. It can last about 2 hours 15 minutes, check the reduce screen refresh option and you can gain a couple of minutes of battery life, and the interface will show you that approximation. But you d better buy a cheap thinkpad T61 battery replacement in www.laptops-battery.co.uk. The Thinkpad T61 battery also fits for thinkpad R61.

Compare with the prev Thinkpad T Series laptop, The T61 has following advantage

  • LED backlit, mercury-free displays
  • Dual-core processors consume 10% less power than standard-voltage processors
  • 25% cooler and quieter than previous T Series
  • Switchable graphics feature uses 15% less power than previous T Series
  • SSD drives use 90% less power than standard hard drives
  • Low-wattage processor technology (25 watt processors)
  • Battery Stretch feature extends battery life and reduces waste
  • Reusable packaging is designed for minimum 5 reuses
  • Energy Calculator enables you to calculate power savings for your system configuration

In all the ThinkPad T61 Widescreen is the latest in Lenovo’s ThinkPad T-series of world-class laptops that have stood the test of time among corporate professionals. But the transition is now complete – the T61 is the first ThinkPad in PC Pro not to feature the IBM logo at all – and we’re relieved to say that the ThinkPad range is none the worse for it.

If you want to buy a t61 please visit Lenovo.com first.

Comfortable and easy Dell inspiron E1505 review

December 1st, 2008  Tagged , , , , ,

I purchased this laptop 2 months ago with the 1.83 Duo Core porcessor, 1 Gig RAM, 7200 RPM 60 Gig HD, Windows media center and office basic and True life screen. The computer is really quite fast and trouble free thus far. The E1505 or 6400 is a great laptop for the traveling power user. It is not so big that I can’t pack it from airport to airport, but is big enough that it is comfortable and easy to use. I have teh 1.86Ghz Core Duo, 2 GB ram, ATI X1400, Blutoot .

At 6 pounds, the inspiron E1505 battery will ship with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 to dictate the overall multimedia offerings so you can enjoy TV, music, movies, and photos. Both the E1505 and 6400 will come equipped with Intel’s latest Dual-Core Duo processors at up to 2.0 GHz. To keep the prices down, these model only come with an integrated graphics solution however we suspect in the future (if demand calls for) there will be a discrete option.

The Dell Inspiron E1505 battery and Dell Inspiron 6400 are availablw now. Prices start at $929 for the E1505 and $979 for the 6400.

Performance from the 1.6-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 CPU is good choice for a budget mainstream portable and performed the very well on five of the seven tests, with a score of 231 on MobileMark 2005. Battery life, at 4 hours and 51 minutes, is excellent for a mainstream notebook. The 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 graphics engine means you can even play 3D games. The E1505 delivered 85 fps on F.E.A.R., using autodetect settings. Although that was at lower resolution and with some eye-candy turned off, it’s more than we expected from a notebook in this price class

Basic features for both models:

  • Choice of 15.4-inch WXGA, WXGA with TrueLife or WSXGA+ with TrueLife displays
  • Intel Core Duo and Core Solo processor options (667 MHz, 2 MB cache) at up to 2.0GHz
  • Up to 2 GB shared(3) 533 MHz DDR2 memory
  • Intel Integrated GMA 950 graphics
  • Serial ATA hard drive up to 100 GB 7,200 RPM
  • Fixed 16X CD-RW/DVD drive or 8X DVD+/-RW dual-layer drive
  • Internal Intel Pro/Wireless 3945 (802.11a/b/g, 54Mbps) and Dell Wireless or internal Dell 350 Bluetooth options

That’s the buyer’s review : I bought this laptop with a gig of ram, a 80 gig hard drive, an radeon 1400 graphics card, and a 1.86 dual core processor. It works great and i love how you can play dvd’s without booting windows. I can play all my games, even the graphics heav…y 3D ones.
I got the e1505 about 2 months ago and so far only managed to really screw it up once. I had to do the system restore (from the restore partition) and it only took about 10 minutes tops to reformat and reload the OS. The Radeon x1400 is very good for… what it is. I don’t run real high res in my games so it performs very nicely and still looks good. The display is very sharp and crisp and all text is very legible even for my poor ol’ eyes. It’s very quick at video rendering for DVD creation and the boot time is very fast (about a minute) due to a very quick HD. My only gripe is all the extra junk Dell feels the need to pile on, and the fact that a factory restore disc is extra (although that seems to be the norm anymore). All in all, it’s been a very good replacement for my aging desktop.
This laptop computer fits all my needs. I e-mailed this e-mail for the review on it. I do not know if I will ever want or use a different computer. It is perfact for any job that anyone may have or want.

The 15.4-inch UltraSharp widescreen display delivered strong colors when watching DVDs, even from a variety of angles. The speakers, which are located on either side of the playback controls, produced surprisingly good sound, even though the bass was a bit weak. This configuration has an 80GB hard drive for storing your digital music collection, along with gobs of photos and videos.

The Dell E1505 is commendably quiet — most of the time.  Even while watching a DVD, the fan remained off.  With a low power integrated video card, only one fan is needed to cool this machine.  The hard drive makes a subdued, but noticeable hum.

Only under heavier tasks does the fan does come on.  It has at least three speeds.  The lowest is very quiet, and more of a pleasing low pitched hum than an annoying whine.  Unfortunately, running benchmarks (which can cause sustained full processor usage, something most programs rarely do) will often cause the fan to quickly bypass first and kick into second and then third gear.  It seems that when the fan starts, the CPU continues to warm for a few moments while the cooling begins to take effect, triggering a higher fan speed that is not really necessary.  After a while it will slow back down and stay there.  If the fan is already running at a lower speed when the benchmark starts, it usually won’t speed up.  After 10 minutes of simultaneous 3DMark05 and Super Pi, the fan did go from the lowest to the middle speed.

Inspiron E1505 Battery life with the default 6-cell battery averages around three hours–not great, but not bad for a multimedia portable computer. Dell offers an upgrade to a 9-cell battery for under $100 if you need a lengthier life before recharging.

Its battery is very weak . Some users talk: I paid a premium for the 85Wh battery when I ordered my Inspiron E1505 and I am extremely disappointed that the battery has quit holding a charge after only 18 months…and now I’m looking at nearly $200 to order a replacement? I bought my Inspiron less than two years ago and I am now looking for my third battery. I should have purchased one way before now since I have to stay plugged up to use my laptop. Way too much money for a worst than terrible battery.Additional Thoughts I will not buy any more Dell laptops. http://reviews.dell.com/2341/312-0428/reviews.htm. I advice you buy a new laptop battery replacement in laptop battery shop

Dell includes a one-year limited warranty on these portable computers, which features at-home service if it’s needed. The one-year period has become the de facto standard for most PC vendors these days.

As they ship, the Dell Inspiron E1505 portable computers offer excellent core power and a good set of components. Gamers will want the graphics upgrade and video editors will want to step up the optical drive, but even if you do both, these portable computers still sell for well under a grand.

Heavy and large Dell inspiron 1100

November 24th, 2008  Tagged , ,

Dell’s Inspiron 1100 budget system is a hit or miss product. Its base configuration is nothing special, but good deals can be found through Dell’s special offers. Dell’s mainstream Inspiron 1100 is the cheapest notebook in the newly redesigned Inspiron family, but it’s by no means the runt. Weighing 7.6 pounds, the 1100 is not ideal to lug around on a business trip or to class. In case you’re inclined to do so, however, Dell packs an efficient Celeron processor and a lithium ion battery rated at 6.45 Ah. And you can expect an impressive 4 hours of battery life, according to our BatteryMark test result.

Dell inspiron 1100 Des:

  • Intel Celeron 2.0 GHz Processor
  • 256 MB PC2100 DDR Memory
  • 30 Gigabyte Hard Drive
  • 24x CD-ROM Optical Drive
  • 15″ XGA (1024×768) LCD and Intel Extreme 3D Graphics with 64MB Shared Memory
  • AC’97 Audio
  • v.92 56Kbps Modem and 10/100 Ethernet
  • Two USB 2.0 Ports and One Type II PC Card Slot
  • 13.1″ x 10.8″ x 1.8″ @ 7.8 lbs.
  • Windows XP Home Operating System
  • Rechargeable lithium inspiron 1100 battery

Dell Inspiron 1100 budget desktop replacement is probably one of the oldest systems available for under $1000 and its components show that age. The base configuration comes with an Intel 2.0 GHz Celeron processor which is sufficient for most computer users, but lower than most of its competitors. the biggest drawback to the system is the normal capacity battery that ships with it to reduce costs also reduces its possible battery life. The other area that it lacks is the optical storage. It ships with a 24x CD-ROM drive. On the plus side of things, Dell offers many upgrade special offers that can allow one to get memory or optical drive upgrades if they are willing to shop for the deals.

This is the same casing that’s being used in most of the new Inspiron series releases such as the 600m, 8600 and 5100.? One thing I don’t like about the Inspiron 1100 is its large size though.? With a 14.1 inch screen it is certainly not one of your 17″ desktop replacement monsters, but with its dimensions of 12.9 by 10.8 by 1.7 inches and a weight of 7.4 pounds it’s no lightweight.

Many notebooks with large cases will contain two internal secondary storage devices, a floppy and CD-RW for instance.? But not with the Inspiron 1100.? You can only get one fixed (not swappable) when configuring the Inspiron 1100 battery .? You have to choose from CD, DVD, CD-RW or DVD/CD-RW drives when ordering.? The DVD/CD-RW combo is the way to go if you can spend $50 – $100 extra.? If you really want a floppy Dell offers an external USB floppy drive for $49.

With its powerful 14.8V, 6,450mAh inspiron 1100 battery, the Inspiron 1100 had little trouble clobbering the competition in battery life. The Inspiron 1100’s four-hour score is the longest battery life we’ve seen in a Celeron-based system.Dell has achieved providing a respectable notebook that can?do every?day tasks without any problem for a low price.

Dell Dimension desktops are advertised everywhere: from the internet, to television, and in the Sunday papers. While they are inexpensive, I wanted to see if I could get a better price, so I went to the Dell website and looked in their outlet. I found a Dimension 1100 computer and decided to order it, a flat-panel monitor, and a pair of speakers. To my surprise, I was sent the wrong monitor and the right computer tower. The shipping to return the monitor would have been $50 and my monitor only cost $165, so I decided to take it apart and remount it using cable ties. It looks horrible and is lopsided, but it works. The real problem I am having is with the Dimension. This is the slowest computer, and has been from day one. Also, it has a tendency to freeze up a lot and I find I have to restart it completely. Dell products used to be great quality, but we have gone through 4 Dell laptops and 2 Dell computers in a period of three years. Each time, we have to end up buying another computer. One time, it was because the laptop was purchased overseas while on military deployment, so the standard warranty offered, wasn?t valid, though its laptop battery very power.

All in all, if you’re seeking a notebook for word processing, e-mailing, or browsing the Internet, this is a reasonable choice. But other units, like the HP Pavilion ze4200, give you greater value for your money.

Dell inspiron 6000 review

November 20th, 2008  Tagged , , ,

You can see more on the Dell Inspiron 6000’s wide screen than on most other 15.4-inch displays thanks to its WUXGA resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels. In fact, you can work with higher-resolution photographs, more spreadsheet columns, and more tiled documents simultaneously on the Inspiron 6000 than you can on some 17-inch wide screens.

Dell Inspiron 6000 D Specs:

  • 1.6 GHz Intel Pentium M 730 (Sonoma), 533MHz FSB and PCIe x16 chipset
  • 15.4 inch WSXGA+ LCD Panel (Samsung)
  • 512 MB DDR2 400 MHz ram
  • 60 GB Ultra ATA Fujitsu 4200rpm hard drive
  • 64 MB ATi Mobility Radeon X300
  • Microsoft Windows XP Home
  • 24x CD-RW/DVD (Sony)
  • Intel 2200 b/g internal wireless card
  • 6-cell lithium ion inspiron 6000 battery
  • 4 USB ports
  • 1 IEEE 1394 FireWire port
  • Secure Digital I/O card slot
  • 1 PCMCIA card slot
  • 2 front facing speakers
  • VGA output
  • Optional S-Video and composite video out with adaptor cable
  • Audio-out (headphones) and Mic-in
  • Integrated 10/100 network Ethernet card
  • Internal 56k modem
  • 4 year on-site service warranty

In addition to the Sonoma technology, the Inspiron 6000 offers a number of improvements over the Inspiron 5160, which it will replace in Dell’s home/small business line-up. Upgraded features include a 15.4in. wide-screen display (available in WXGA, WSXGA and WUXGA resolutions), a slightly slimmer profile (though it’s about 2.5cm wider), a better keyboard layout, optional Bluetooth, front edge media controls and four USB 2.0 ports. Also onboard are an S-Video output, FireWire, VGA, 10/100 Ethernet and modem connections, plus a multi-format, double-layer DVD burner. Hard drive capacities will range from 30GB to 80GB.

The machine comes normally with a 6-cell inspiron 6000 battery. So I ordered a second battery, a 9-cell one, and for some reason unknown to me Dell decided to make both batteries 9-cell, instead of giving me a small and a big one. Nice, two of these 80 Wh batteries will last a complete transatlantic flight, each one giving up to 5 hours of power.

The Inspiron 6000 is a smoothly designed, handsome laptop with a sloped front and cream-colored trim. Our unit had a multiformat DVD burner, plus FireWire and TV-out ports and four USB 2.0 ports, all placed for easy use. The 6000 accepts user upgrades easily. Like many laptops, it has two memory slots located in a compartment on the bottom of the laptop. But instead of residing in dovetailed slots, the modules lie side by side–an unusual arrangement that makes them more accessible than most. The hard drive is a breeze to remove, too: Just unscrew its bottom panel and tug the drive out through the right side of the case. Though the optical drive doesn’t have a lever for popping it out, you can boost it out by its lower edge after removing a security screw on the bottom of the case.

The 2-GHz Pentium M 760-equipped review unit did well in our speed tests, earning a WorldBench 5 score of 89, about 8 percent above the average for systems equipped with the same processor. To test the gaming ability of this system on the latest and greatest games I decided to use Doom 3. The Inspiron 6000 D with the 64 MB ATi X300 card didn’t do too well here. I could only get an average of 30 FPS when using low graphics settings and the 800×600 resolution. It looked pretty bad. Otherwise the game was working fine with all of its effects, characters, and maps.

The Dell Inspiron 6000 does not have a “stick” for mouse control, only a touchpad. A Kensington Pocket Mouse is a recommended extra. Having only used desktop keyboards before, a laptop keyboard takes time getting used to, but the keys are big enough and have enough “depths” to give a real typing feeling.

If you’re looking for an inexpensive 15.4 inch widescreen laptop with good battery life and moderate performance, the Dell Inspiron 6000 D is a good choice.
